The promotion of an entrepreneurial individuality in flexible capitalism: an ethically controversial project

Abstract

At the end of the 70s, Foucault perceived that the implantation of a new form of governmentality, of a neoliberal sign, entailed a reconfiguration of subjetivity, shaping a new type of homo economicus, the entrepeneur of himself. The changes produced in the global economy and, particularly, in the organization of work, according to the principle of flexibility, encourages the extension of an entrepreneurial individuality. However, the apology for this human model tends to hide a precarious and uncertain work reality, which makes it difficult to develop a consistent personal biography and follow socially responsible courses of action.
