Abstract

This article aims to introduce Discursive Institutionalism (DI) as an alternative and relevant approach for the analysis of public policies in Latin America. Using DI as the theoretical foundation, this paper presents and explains the conceptual, epistemological, and methodological framework, analyzing the potential of the approach as a tool to advance conceptual and methodological frameworks in the study of public policy in Latin America. DI stands out as a strategic analytical approach for understanding public policies in the region. Its relevance lies not only in its concepts and methodology but also in its capacity to address complexity by integrating various theoretical and practical elements from different institutionalisms. Including DI in research on public policy in Latin America is pertinent to expand and contribute to the construction of theoretical frameworks that capture the characteristic complexity of our context.
