Ethical statement on publication and bad practices

The Política. Revista de Ciencia Política editorial team is strongly committed to the development of political science and the production of relevant, timely scientific knowledge with an impact on the community. For this reason, we guarantee that all the works we publish (editorials, articles and reviews) have been treated in compliance with ethical criteria shared by the scientific-academic community. This is intended to avoid problems such as plagiarism, data falsification or other bad practices.

Política. Revista de Ciencia Política guarantees readers that all articles have been subject to a process that ensures data integrity, originality of the work, scientific relevance, clarity, and pertinence. For this purpose, we have developed a two-round anonymous (double blind) evaluation system, with external reviewers from the Faculty of Government of the University of Chile, using the evaluation criteria available at this link.

The evaluation process is confidential at all times. Only the final arbitration opinion may be requested by the Editorial Committee to support its final decision.

Likewise, any case arising from accusations of plagiarism, data manipulation and other malpractice will be treated confidentially.

Plagiarism Policy

Política. Revista de Ciencia Política expressly affirms the prohibition of plagiarism. This includes self-plagiarism or reuse by authors of content already published by themselves, without mentioning its origin.

Works that are identified as plagiaristic or that contain false or adulterated data will not be published. In the event that any work already published presents problems of plagiarism, the work in question will be removed from the journal.

Política. Revista de Ciencia Política verifies that the text presented is unpublished and does not include plagiarism or self-plagiarism. For this purpose, we request that authors state expressly that the content of the work is original and that its publication does not infringe the rights of third parties. Additionally, to ensure the work’s replicability, the author of articles that present data must submit a database (.dat or .sav) that is available to anyone who requests it from the assistant editor.

The work is also processed, using Turnitin software, to discover the article’s percentage of similarity with sources already published and not referenced in the text. Verification is done during the editorial process, prior to submission for peer review.

If necessary, we promise to publish corrections, clarifications and apologies as soon as possible.
