Some reflections of the Chilean Delegation Chief to the Washington D.C. Conference (October 15th to December 1st, 1959) are presented. The Antarctic Treaty was negotiated and adopted in this diplomatic meeting. It is analysed the content of its main provisions, especially of its Articles I, II, IV and V, containing the fundamental principles of this agreement.
